Starting a business or running a startup<\/a> requires an exceptional amount of motivation and discipline<\/a>. Without motivation, discipline, and ambition, startup founders<\/a> and business owners would never successfully get their business off the ground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recent study done by Vistaprint<\/a>, they revealed that 33%<\/strong> of small business owners in the United States say they do not have the same motivation<\/strong> as they did in those early days of starting their entrepreneurial journey<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same study revealed that 36%<\/strong> of small business owners reported experiencing this lack of motivation multiple times throughout a year<\/strong>, in a waxing and waning fashion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a different study<\/a> done by Inc.com, they reported that 62%<\/strong> of small business owner respondents have suffered from burnout<\/strong><\/em> at some recent point in their business ownership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This burnout can be detrimental for business founders and owners in keeping their businesses afloat. Changing times require a dynamic business model<\/a>, one that is impossible to achieve without motivation and drive<\/strong><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happens if an entrepreneur doesn\u2019t have self-motivation? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Studies show that many entrepreneurs have lost that initial self-motivation<\/strong><\/em> that drove them to start their business in the first place. If an entrepreneur loses their self-motivation, their business is going to be in big trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we said, it is important to be able to change your business with the changing times and that requires motivation. To be unmotivated is to be stagnant and that could be deadly to a business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one of Brian Tracy\u2019s blog posts<\/a>, he states that <\/p>\n\n\n\n

97%<\/strong> of adult Americans are trying to live their lives without clear, specific, and written-out goals<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, this includes even the wealthiest leaders and founders out there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Tracy, in order to be successful, you must prioritize self-discipline<\/strong>, otherwise, you risk<\/a> wasting time on unimportant tasks or losing motivation to further your business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you lack goals, you lack motivation. Any startup founder will tell you that the road to get where they are today, was not easy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We talked to startup founders and business owners across the country to ask them what motivates them. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve O\u2019Dell, co-founder, and CEO of Tenzo Matcha Tea<\/a> told us part of his story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the early stages of any business, the future can seem bleak. There is always a swarm of doubters who do not see opportunity in the same lens as you. When I dropped out of college<\/strong><\/em> and moved to Los Angeles to fulfill my dream, a phrase I heard stuck with me.<\/p>

Opportunities don\u2019t happen, you create them<\/strong>. <\/p>

Those who want to make you doubt and second guess yourself. According to O\u2019Dell, the most important thing is to create those opportunities for yourself, because they are not going to just fall in your lap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating those opportunities requires dedication and motivation. It is not easy to start your own business in such a competitive world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

How to find entrepreneurial motivation? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you find yourself feeling burnt out and as though you have stopped believing in your business and your ideas, it is time to sit down and re-discover your goals and your motivation. According to Inc.com<\/a>, it is extremely important to identify your core values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To do this, they recommend sitting down and making a physical list<\/strong><\/em> of things that are important to you. Once you have made that list, you should then identify which of those values are the most important to you and what you can do to ensure they are protected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This list will help you in a number of ways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
